Before supermarkets. Before plastic wrap. Before everything was the same everywhere — there were crate labels.

This is an original California grape crate label — a 1950s lithograph produced for A.E. Pruner, grower and shipper of Exeter, California. It has never been used. Never folded. Never attached to a crate. It is New Old Stock in excellent condition, found in the original unused factory stock.

The label is quietly magnificent. A white calla lily — elongated, architectural, one of the most compositionally distinctive of all flowers — rises from the center against a deep blue ground. The lettering in pale yellow and warm orange completes the palette with an elegance that feels entirely contemporary. Calla lilies are a perennial of interior design: they read as modern, sculptural, and timeless all at once, which is perhaps why this label has aged so well.

Strip labels like this one are made for grouping — line them up in matching narrow frames along a shelf or wall for a gallery effect that feels both curated and effortless. A single label in a slim 5x14 frame is a statement on its own. The deep blue ground pairs beautifully with natural wood, white walls, and navy or cream interiors. Two available.

A wonderful gift for a calla lily lover, a vintage botanical decor collector, or anyone who wants a long, slim piece of original floral art from California's golden age of agricultural lithography.

A note on crate label collecting: Original lithographic crate labels from this era are increasingly scarce. NOS examples like this one — never used, never folded, in original unused condition — represent the best of what survives. Collectors prize them for their graphic quality and the window they open onto a vanished chapter of American agricultural and commercial history.
